launch is a replacement for the OSX open command, mostly for OSX 10.1.
It does all the useful things of open, plus handles http:// and ssh:// urls,
and -e terminals (similar to 'xterm -e')
open under OSX 10.2 handles urls (though only http:// seems to be
configurable in System Preferences). To configure other services, you
could try selecting and dragging one from the terminal to the desktop, running
GetInfo on the resulting .inetloc file, changing the "Open With", and hitting
Change All.
