- Managed and expanded team of Production Engineers (10-15 Unix System/Cluster Administrators/
Programmers) responsible for large (tens of thousands of hosts)
installations that function as Yahoo! Search Technology algorithmic
search, including crawlers, indexers, and searchers.
- Included day-to-day people management as well as project management,
architectural guidance, hiring, and career development, resulting

- Responsible for datacenter and hardware use planning,
business continuity and SLA management.
- Worked with engineering leaders to manage cluster design,
usage, and reliability, as well as supporting deployment requirements,

Project Manager and UNIX Cluster Administrator, Inktomi Search Engine
Foster City, CA; February 2002-May 2002 (contract)
- Created project plans and managed resources to move Inktomi cluster
operations in Virginia from one Exodus Data Center to another.
- Similar duties to Inktomi UNIX Cluster Administrator, below, including
setting up new clusters, performance tuning, and other assistance.
UNIX Cluster Administrator, Inktomi Search Engine
Foster City, CA; August 1997-October 2001
- Lead and founding member of the team responsible for efficient administration of clustered Solaris systems
(approximately 2000 nodes) running the Inktomi Search Engine, to
provide hundreds of transactions per second, including use of NIS,
NFS, DNS, Perl, Jumpstart, and ssh.
- Architected and implemented reliable, high-uptime, services via load
balancing, high performance networking (Myrinet), and automation.
- Designed and developed System Administration tools for
automation, monitoring/reporting, user and configuration management
with Perl, PHP, and shell scripts.
- Assisted Technical and Customer Support, worked directly with
premier customers.
- Hired, trained, and created documentation to build the Cluster
Administration team, which received an Inktomi Legend award.
- Managed a small team of Perl/system programmers, responsible for
production and internal tools development and improvement.
UNIX System Administrator
Santa Clara, CA; February 1997-July 1997
- Worked at client sites (Synopsys, Softbank Forums) to
administer various UNIX flavors (Solaris, SunOS, AIX, IRIX, HP-UX,
Linux).
- Responded to help requests from engineers for new software compilation
and installation, hardware setup and maintenance, and backups.
